Sumana offered a unique perspective on studying blogs and the social media sphere by Indian Women using the standpoint theory as well as tools used to study new media. An alumni from the 1990-1992 batch of MA Communication she successfully defended her PhD Thesis making her the third MA – PhD from the Department in 2016.
